If you could package Tim Tebow leadership in a bottle and sell it to businessmen, husbands, and athletes you would be a gazillionaire.    Tebow continues to answer the question of “What is a Leader?”  “Tim has a presence about him that I’ve never been around before in terms of a guy in the locker room. What is a leader

In today’s confused society, simple questions have to be answered and explained that were taken for granted a generation ago. “What is a leader?” is not overly simply but it has become overly confused.  I am a new father and starting in the parenting stage of my own life, and I expect to have to explain things to my children that were not necessary to be explained to me.  Instead of getting on a soapbox of forgotten truths, I will briefly talk about what it means to be a leader.  Here are a few things that would fit the definition. I consider myself to be a people-person in the sense that I love to hang out with people. A friend of mine in college would jokingly comment on how he felt I would go up to just about anybody to get to know them. It is a joy for me to get to know people, to hear more about them and even how I can help them. This has led me into a profession where I am involved in people’s lives everday but with it comes a struggle that is common to men of all ages and across any profession.

Characteristics of a Leader – Resolving Conflict

There are many defining characteristics of a leader, but one of the most difficult is the ability to resolving conflict the right way.  This takes humility, courage, and character.  This answers the question “What is a leader”?  These are defining qualities of a leader.  Resolving conflict is a not only a challenge to manhood, but unfortunately, also a mystery to many men.  For some reason, completing a triathlon, being a good listener, and swallowing our pride to ask forgiveness, all fall in about the same difficulty level for many men including myself.  Though resolving conflict with another person, especially your spouse, is never easy, I don’t want ignorance to be an excuse any longer.  Pride may be your failure in accomplishing this daunting task, but ignorance will not.  Here are the key points to remember in resolving a conflict as laid out in the Bible  and elaborated on in Douglas Wilson’s book Reforming Marriage.
